Condoms and why they are a good thing

Condoms
By: Darian Cashler
The condom was invented in 1000 B.C. to prevent pregnancy. 10.4 billion condoms worldwide were bought in one year.(“How many condoms were bought in one year”). Condoms can help prevent teenage girls having to put their baby up for adoption or have an abortion. The condom is the most helpful invention because it protects you from STD’s, prevents pregnancy and they are easy to access.
To begin, condoms help prevent you from getting an STD like gonorrhea, syphilis and HIV. The condom makes a barrier between the infected person and the uninfected person. They are 99.9% accurate to protect you. They are the only and best way we have to help prevent from getting diseases (“Do condoms really protect you for a STD”).  It only takes one exposure to contract a disease that will affect you for life.  What price would you pay for your protection?
The second reason condoms are a helpful invention is they help prevent pregnancy. There is a 1 and 10 chance a girl will get pregnant with a condom. Many couples don’t or are not ready to be parents at the age 17 or even 50. Catelynn and Tyler on teen mom had a little girl. They were 17 and not ready to have a baby, they gave Carly up for adoption. If they would have used a condom they would not have been in the boat of having a kid or having to go through the pain of giving her up. The other option they had was abortion, but that’s a whole other issue.
My third and final point about why condoms are a helpful invention is that they are easy to access. You can be any age and walk into any store and buy a pack or box of condoms. Some schools provide them from the school nurse. Because they are so readily available in the United States, there should not be as many teenagers pregnant or an out break of STD’s like we have today. If you’re too lazy to not wear a condom then don’t have sex at all.
Some may say that other forms of birth control are more convenient; however, this statement is false due to the fact that condoms have fewer side effects such as, you will not have a baby when you are 17 but you will also be clean and not have an STD.
In conclusion condoms are a helpful invention that if used incorrectly could result in disaster. From the family planning to protection from horrendous diseases, the invention of the condom is the best invention of our life time. There is no excuse for unwanted pregnancy or the contraction of a sexually transmitted disease. Due to the fact that they are easily accessible there should never be a teen pregnant or a STD.

  2. A very great point, while also putting in facts to prove why they are such a great invention. Very good use of using facts to explain your points.

  3. I agree with you because there's many poeple that have unprotectec sex. You made good points to be protected than to be worring about if you have an STD or may be pregnat.
